Elementary (1st thru 5th Grade)
Kauai Creative Academy recognizes that every child has an innate curriculum and a passion to learn what they are uniquely here to do. Our multi-age classroom will nurture your Child’s divine intelligence and inherent gifts as it encourages social and emotional development, leadership, responsibility, a sense of caring, and the ability to build authentic relationships with self and others. Lasting friendship and a feeling of family are inherent in this type of environment.
Our patient and compassionate teachers recognize every child is unique and has an individual pattern and timing for increased awareness, growth and capacity to learn. Each day we diligently set the stage to evolve the consciousness of the student’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. As a result, students look forward to attending school each day and become inspired artists, excellent communicators, confident leaders, and heart-centered conscious co-creators.
A Well-Rounded Alternative Education
This year, we will be providing school 4 days a week M-Thurs, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Miss Ilima will have another full-time teacher co-teaching 2 days per week and several enrichment teachers who specialize in both academics, visual and movement arts.
For the artistic portion of our curriculum we cover topics such as yoga, acro-yoga, aerial silks, gymnastics, classical ballet, modern dance, hip hop, lyrical, jazz, music basics and singing. For the visual arts we offer lessons in a variety of painting and drawing techniques, arts and crafts.
Every 3rd Friday of the month, we reserve for enrichment activities and field trips that correlate to the seasons, solar system, agricultural and oceanic motions. Enrichment days include but are not limited to the following: gardening, surfing, swimming, snorkeling, cooking, sewing, weaving, plant medicine, beach clean up, sports, game playing, dress-up, acting, and community outreach.
We function as a private academy and keep small class sizes to provide the highest quality education possible. Our 2-semester program requires a 10-month commitment (August - May) from every family. At the end of each semester, students put on a presentation or recital for the parents and friends of family, showcasing what they learned through out the year. This is always a heart warming celebration and acknowledgement of student growth.

Multi-Age Classroom
KCA offers multi-aged classrooms with two three-year Elementary cycles. Our Lower Elementary program is equivalent to 1st through 3rd grades and our Upper Elementary program to 4th through 6th grades. An effective experience depends on the increased possibilities for self-paced learning in a classroom with a range of ages and stages of development.

Field Trips
One Friday per month, we go out on field trips. Field trips are an integral part of our KCA curriculum. Monthly field trips include visits to anthropological sights, museums, area farms, local businesses, parks, salt ponds, fish ponds, hikes, beaches, and more. We are currently working towards a yearly class trips to the outer islands for additional exposure and educational expansion.

Electives
KCA offers a unique exposure to electives at a young age which gives students the opportunity to explore their interests and talents. KCA offers electives in music, dance, choir, art, basic auto maintenance, nature building, gardening, medicine making, cooking, gymnastics, aerial silks, yoga, meditation, and theatre.
